T’was the third of March in Ninety, when we went out to dine,
at a Restaurant called Alanas where the decor was quite fine.
We sat down at a table, ordered whisky mixed with coke
and received the entree menu from a well dressed waiter bloke.

The oysters were delicious, calamari it was fine,
fresh and tasty seafood, and some Hunter Valley Wine.
When we got the main course, served a little late,
we looked in awesome wonder at the King size dinner plate.

The plate was rather massive, in fact it was so wide,
we had to swap positions to reach the other side.
It took both hands to move it because it was so big,
somewhat like a truckie and the steering on his rig.

This humongous piece of china was a plate so over grown,
you could put four legs beneath it and have a table of your own.
And when the meal was over the plate became a tray,
to clear the other dishes and cart the scraps away.

Now we talk of many landmarks wherever we may be,
Big pineapple, Big banana are attractions all must see.
So when you visit Sydney ensure you book a date,
at a Restaurant called Alanas, and see the Big dinner plate.
