Hole In The Fence

A Guard has many duties at MACK TRUCKS everyday,
and number one upon the list, is to keep the crooks away.
Now here’s a little story, that I would like to tell
about a hole cut in the fence, and a Guard named John Revell.

In the early morning darkness and half his shift was through,
he walked around the boundary on external number two.
Now being very vigil, and feeling fairly tense,
Is that a shadow or a hole, in the western boundary fence?

He walked a little closer, to get a better view.
And sure enough there was a hole, you could drive a Mack Truck through.
Well - maybe not as large as that, but a big hole just the same,
and tell tale signs left in the grass to show the crooks had came.

The ever watchful guard dogs, were bravely sniffing round,
their timing was a little late, the crooks could not be found.
So John decided wisely, to make a call to base
and have an armed Patrollie, investigate this case.

He blocked the hole cut in the fence and put one dog away,
then left the other dog nearby to keep the crooks at bay.
He notified all staff concerned, and re-commenced patrol,
and all the time he walked around, his mind was on that hole.

So John returned back to the scene to search for evidence,
and make sure that the watchful dog was still there at the fence.
When he arrived, the dog was gone, she hadn’t played her role,
cause underneath the patched up fence the dog had dug a hole.

The armed patrol he called for, earlier in the night,
found the dog near Wacol, and brought her back on site.
They checked the boundary one more time, and could not find a sole
and to this day, we still don’t know, who cut that gaping hole.

Now all the Guards at MACK TRUCKS,as they patrol the grounds,
keep a careful look-out, for crooks within their bounds,
and should they see a shadow, or feel a little tense,
they look for signs of gaping holes, in the western boundary fence.
