Rhonda Alicia Beattie

The last day of the winter, became a special date.
On the Thirty First of August, of Nineteen forty eight.
T'was then a happy moment on this lovely Tuesday morn,
to Stan and Sybil Beattie, a baby girl was born.

We'll call her WILLEMENA, which sounded rather silly.
Cause instead of being daddies girl, she'd be his little "WILLIE"
I'm glad to say they changed it, and I'll bet she feels the same.
Because RHONDA ALICIA BEATTIE, was a better choice of name.

Her childhood days are memories, of the freckles and the curls,
And she showed her marching talents when she joined the Marching Girls
Tarrawanna Primary School, and Smith Hill all Girls High,
are still a happy memory of those many years gone by.

Her teenage years, I do recall, as clear as yesterday,
Rock-N-Roll and stompin, to the sounds of J-O-K.
She idolised Crash Craddock, and his Boom Boom Baby song,
And attended all the dances, from Thirroul to Wollongong.

She worked for Berlei Clothing, which kept her on the hop.
For Dandy Meats and Smallgoods, and Greens the Paper Shop.
She worked for good old WOOLIES, where she was rather slick,
And she reckons her position, was not a CHECKOUT CHICK.

I met her on a Sunday, In early Sixty Four.
She was only fifteen years, And I, just two years more.
Our love for one another grew, She changed my way of life.
And so, a few months later, She agreed to be my wife.

Now, Rhonda Alicia Beattie, For whom my love still shines,
on New Years Day of Sixty Six, Became my misses Lyons.
She gave me hope through Vietnam, When we were forced to part.
She gave me strength to carry on, With letters from the heart

She became a loving Mother, with a love that would not wane,
and she showed it in her caring, For Teresa and for Shane.
Fifty years have now passed by she has some ageing signs
Our loving Wife and Mother, Is now our Nanny Lyons.

Teagan and Tynelle, and little Stephanie Lee
Have got a lovely Nanny, who loves to share her knee.
And now that she's turned Fifty, she's still got love to share,
Still got time to share it, And still got time to care.

We've seen a lot of good times, and shared a few odd tears.
She's been my inspiration, For more than Thirty Years
And if I could start all over, and live another life,
I'd still choose RHONDA BEATTIE, To be my lovely Wife.

Footnote:..... Granddaughters Lily Minette born to Teresa and Karl on 19 May 2001
Caitlyn Grace born to Kalee and Shane on 14 July 2003

Granddaughters Lily and Caitlyn now sits upon her knee
It gets a little crowded when you add the other three.
