Tribute To Slim Dusty

David Gordon Kirkpatrick, a man so dear to me.
He hails from Nulla Nulla Creek, a place just near Kempsey.
He’s known throughout Australia, as The Country Music King,
it’s great to hear his country sound, it’s great to hear him sing.

He’s sung of many places, and things throughout this land.
His ballads are a credit, to this True Blue Aussie man.
Cattle trains and stations, and trucks out in the night.
He’s even sung of Bulldog Macks, and The Mighty Min Min Light.

Rusty Bells and Gidgee Coal, and Gum Trees standing tall.
Dried up Pubs and Swagmen, he’s sung about them all.
Roustabouts and Spruikers, Drought and flooding rain.
Rodeos and Country shows, and The Peppimenarti Plain.

He sings of a beer with Duncan, and Lights On The Hill as well.
He tells of his mate Stan Coster, and his time at Three Rivers Hotel.
A Grasshopper Loose in Queensland, and a word to Texas Jack.
A little town called Camooweal, should ever he go back.

Many songs of humour, are sung by this great bloke.
The elections of our politicians, and Beat Of The Government Stroke.
He’s sung about sorrow and sadness, of men who have fought in the War.
And the dog who he simply calls Rusty, who waits by the old Station Door.

All over Our Great Country, his songs are well renown.
He’s the man who sings true country, with the brim of his hat turned down.
His songs ring out across the land, it’s grand to hear him sing,
and it's great to have Slim Dusty as our country music King.
