Mr Stanley Beattie

He was born and bred at Wollongong where he lived for all his life,
He shared in mostly good times but he seen his share of strife.
His name is Stanley Beattie, a kind and caring man.
To family, friends and neighbors, He was simply known as Stan

Stan's early years were hard times, through depression years he grew.
Then joined the men of the A.I.F, to fight in World War two.
He was posted to New Guinea, to heed the battle call
and faced his share of action, and seen some good mates fall.

When the war was over, he returned to civilian life
where Stan met Sybil Neeld, and she became his wife.
He worked hard on the buses, as he used his driving skill
on single and double deckers, for a Company... John J Hill.

In the year of nineteen forty eight, a daughter came into his life.
Rhonda Alicia, I’m happy to say, would later be my loving wife.
To complete Stan Beattie's family, came a son, Michael John
and together, Stan, Sybil and children, lived as the years lingered on.

Stan worked for Brother Neil, drove trucks for Brambles too,
and when he reached age sixty, his working days were through.
By now he’s a very proud Granddad, to Teresa, Shane, Gemma and Joel
and he loved them ever so dearly, with his heart, his body and soul.

Prior to death in Ninety two, Great Grand Daughter twins were born.
Tynelle and Teagan, he so briefly met, before his life had passed on.
At times, a cranky old stirrer but his bark was worse than his bite.
His heart was made of pure gold, and mostly he was right.

So who is Stanley Beattie? you may stop and ask.
Well, Mister Stanley Beattie, is a memory of the past.
He’s a memory of the good times, the happy and the sad.
An everlasting memory, of a Husband, Pop and Dad.
