A man That's now a legend in Australia’s sporting fame,
born and bred in Queensland, Lewis is his name.
The pride of Queensland Rugby League, he gave the game a spark
and he’s known around Australia, as The Emperor of Lang Park.

He came up through the junior ranks and played with skill and pride.
He gained respect from players, both on and off his side.
He played for Brisbane Valleys, where his skills began to mould
and he proved he had the talent, to wear the Green and Gold.

A star for Wynnum Manly and the leader of this team,
he became the greatest five eighth the World has ever seen.
He built a reputation, of which today still stands,
King of Kings, King Wally, to his many thousand fans

In the State of Origin matches, he rattled many bones
representing Queensland, in a team of great Maroons.
King Wally ranks among the best, as he led Australia through
to record breaking victories, as Captain Kangaroo.

Whether representing Queensland or Australia in a test,
there’s no doubt Wally Lewis is one of footballs best.
Playing as a Bronco, he made some big men fall
and he’s still the King of Rugby League, The greatest game of all.

Now there’s many noted legends in footballs greatest game,
Gasnier, Raper and Beetson are in the hall of fame.
Meninga, Price and Cronin are men who’ve left their mark,
and so has Wally Lewis The Emperor of Lang Park.
